Hamroun, Bounedjah and Al-Hajri return to Al-Sadd squad, Afif makes first appearance
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira announced the matchday squad for his side’s upcoming QNB Stars League clash against Al-Rayyan, which will be played on Thursday.
Jugurtha Hamroun is back in the squad after the end of his one-match suspension while Baghdad Bounedjah also returns after recovering from his injury.
Meanwhile, new signing Akram Afif was named in the matchday squad for the first time after joining the club in the winter transfer window. Also making the squad for the game is midfielder Salem Al-Hajri, who was rested following his participation with the Qatar U23 team at the AFC U23 Championships.
The squad announcement came after the end of Wednesday’s final training session, during which the players worked on light technical drills before leaving for a closed camp at the Westin Hotel.
The 18-man matchday squad is as follows: Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham, Yasser Abubakar, Pedro Miguel, Baghdad Bounedjah, Xavi Hernandez, Morteza Pouraliganji, Jugurtha Hamroun, Hamid Ismail, Hassan Al-Haydos, Ali Asad, Ali Ferydoon, Abdelkarim Hassan, Akram Afif, Musab Kheder, Salem Al-Hajri, Hassan Ahmed, Ahmed Sohail.
Al-Sadd will go into Thursday’s game sitting in second place in the league table with 37 points and will look to continue winning in order to keep themselves in the title race.
