Ferreira: We’re looking for a strong start; we know little about Al-Kharaitiyat

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of their first game of the 2016/17 QSL season, against Al-Kharaitiyat at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Friday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Ferreira said: “I welcome everyone to this press conference, where I am meeting the media for the first time in the new season. I hope it will be a good season.”

He went on to add: “We prepared in Doha and we also had training camps in Austria and Germany. Everyone also knows that we are the main contributor to the Qatar national team. At times, we only trained with 10 or 12 players. But now,  I have 27 players. I know all of them and there’s no reason to complain, especially as I have been with the team since the middle of last season.”

As for the upcoming match against Al-Kharaitiyat, Ferreira said: “We know little about Al-Kharaitiyat. We haven’t seen their friendlies. But we have a lot of spirit in our ranks ahead of the league campaign. Our aim is always to win.”

The Portuguese also said: “I did not begin the last season with the team. Al-Sadd is a strong team that competes for titles and has players of high calibre who are capable of achieving it. I hope the players continue without injuries.”
