Ferreira: I’m satisfied with our performance

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance after a 3-0 win over Al-Arabi in Round 13 of the QNB Stars League on Saturday evening.

Speaking at the post-game press conference, Ferreira said: “My team played the game in all seriousness, completely ignoring the big scoreline we got in our win last time. We managed to score the first goal early on, after which we gained control over the game.”

He added: “I particularly congratulated the national team players for their performance because they are have just returned after tiring journeys.”

“Our goal was the win the match and we achieved this. If it wasn’t for fatigue, we could have won by a bigger margin. Everyone knows that we are going to play Al-Khor after three days, and then three days later we will play Al-Gharafa. All this will add to the strain on the players and the whole team.”

The coach also pointed out that opposing teams always give their best against Al-Sadd and try to score. “I am very happy with the team’s performance, considering the situation,” he said.

As for Gabi’s injury, Ferreira said: “I don’t think Gabi’s injury is huge; we will wait for the medical examination. I am really afraid of injuries, especially now as we have five games before the league break and we will play every three days.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “We need to win our next game first, after that we will think about the rest.”
