Ferreira: Sad because of Bounedjah’s injury, Al-Sadd won’t be shaken by the loss
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira saluted his players Hassan Al-Haydos and Morteza Pouraliganji for playing the game even though they were injured and suffering from fatigue, and described them as “professionals of the highest level.”
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I am sad because of Bounedjah’s injury. It’s a similar injury to the one he suffered in the Super Cup final.”
He added: “The match was tough for Al-Sadd because certain players were missing and others were playing despite being injured or fatigued. This increased the difficulty of the match.”
Ferreira also stated that the three of the goals that Al-Duhail scored against them was due to defensive mistakes.
He also said that Al-Sadd “won’t be shakeb by the defeat.”
“The league is still long. We will face Al-Duhail again in the second phase. I hope my team will be full-strength so that we can get revenge.”
The Portuguese tactician added: “There are many more matches left; the league is just around its midway point. There are many other factors in play during the campaign and we still have 13 matches before the end of it.”
Ferreira went on to conclude by saying: “Before this game, Al-Sadd had the best defence in the league. Al-Sadd are the only team from the top three that has not played with a full-strength team due to injuries.”
