Ferreira: Our spirit led us to win; happy with the fan support

​Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness and praised the spirit of his team after their 2-1 win over league leaders Al-Rayyan in Round 12 of the Qatar Stars League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I congratulate the players for this well-deserved win after we were able to control the game against a strong team, despite us coming from the back of two defeats in the row. We studied Al-Rayyan well and we managed to outperform them significantly.”

The coach also said: “Luck was also on our side; we were close to conceding many goals. But we kept the lead. Everyone saw how Rayyan put pressure in the middle of the game, but we proved our worth and our control in the remaining minutes until we got the win, which came after the effort of the players, the management and the fans.”

As for the change in his plan against Al-Rayyan and putting Hassan al-Haydos, Abdulkarim Hassan and Musab Khodr on the bench, Ferreira said: “This is my way and my strategy of play. I will play the players who performs seriously in training. All the players in this team are spirited. I have 20 players and I try to make use of all of them.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “I will not forget to congratulate the fans of Al-Sadd. We want them to be with the team as they were in the Clasico against Rayyan. I wish they support the team strongly in the coming matches which will not be short of excitement.” He also pointed out the team spirit which he felt emanating from the players, which greatly helped the team to the win.
