Ferreira: Our attack lacked speed; the result was fair

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his satisfaction with the result after the 1-1 draw with El-Jaish in the QSL Round 13 game which was played on Thursday night. He said that the Wolves drew with an excellent team who had topped the table for most of the first phase.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It was a difficult match against a strong team that topped the team throughout the season. A win could have given us the top spot at the end of the first phase. Our attack didn’t click because of a lack of speed in our attack and movement. In the first half, we missed a lot of opportunities, including a real chance for Xavi. We could have had a 2-0 lead in the first half.”

He added: “The result is fair considering the fact that we played with ten men for the last 25 minutes. It was a closed match with both teams looking to avoid defeat.”

As for the sending off of Morteza Pouraliganji, Ferreira said: “The red card affected us and El-Jaish used this by applying pressure on us in the final few minutes. The red card was a turning point in the match; I am happy that we didn’t concede a second goal.”
