Ferreira: Our aim is to defeat Al-Kharaitiyat, I have no intentions of retiring
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira has stated that his team’s aim is to defeat Al-Kharaitiyat in their upcoming QNB Stars League final round game and end their campaign on a positive note.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s game, Ferreira said: “This is the last press conference of the league and I want to thank the media who have shown a lot of support to Al-Sadd throughout the season. I promise to cooperate with them in the upcoming period as well.”
He added: “This game against Al-Kharaitiyat is the last in the league for us. Our aim was to win the title, but unfortunately we couldn’t achieve that aim because of the defeat to Al-Duhail. We will now continue to achieve the rest of our aims. The team is going to play against Al-Kharaitiyat in all seriousness. Our philosophy has always been to win regardless of who is playing. I always play to win and achieve the top position.”
“We must admit that Al-Duhail were better than us. There were a lot of reasons for that, including injuries. There are other challenges coming up now, including the two cups and the AFC Champions League. We will continue to work hard to conquer these challenges.”
Ferreira also said: “We won the Super Cup and also qualified directly for next season’s AFC Champions League and this is a very good thing for the team.”
As for a question regarding his retirement, Ferreira said: “My contract runs until the end of this season. All I’m thinking about is the upcoming matches, and about achieving victories and happy endings. I have not spoken of any intention to retire from management. My health is fine and I will continue with my work.”
