Ferreira: Not satisfied with the result, we made the second leg difficult for ourselves

Al-Sadd head coach expressed his dissatisfaction after his team’s 2-1 win over Al-Ahli (KSA) in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in the AFC Champions League.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I am not satisfied with the result. If this was a match for three points, it would have been good. It was crucial that we did not concede. Now, we have made things difficult for ourselves. I did not like the Al-Sadd defence today. We could have scored five goals today but instead, we were punished by conceding a goal.”

“This is not a good result. Al-Ahli will be tough to play against in front of their fans, especially as they need just one goal to qualify. This is a tough for us and I am very disappointed.”

“We did not defend well. Pedro’s return will be a good thing for us in the away game. I am not pessimistic, I’m realistic. The game in Jeddah is going to be extremely difficult.”

“Al-Sadd have a very congested schedule and the players are suffering from fatigue. We played the Qatar Cup final against Al-Duhail, and then the Emir’s Cup quarterfinal against Al-Khor. Three days later, we played this game and now we have the Emir’s Cup semifinal coming up (on Friday) before we travel to Saudi Arabia. All this will cause fatigue for the players.”

“This is the seventh game we have played in the AFC Champions League this season. We won five and lost twice. Despite our difficulties, we are moving ahead successfully.”
