Ferreira: It’ll be a tough match; we will improve gradually
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of the importance of his side’s upcoming QNB Stars League match against Qatar SC, which is set to be played on Sunday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said: “The match will be very tough. Qatar SC have improved a lot this season and have perfromed well in the three games.”
“I am happy that Al-Sadd have a full-strength squad after the return of the players who were out with injuries. They have trained well with the rest of the team.”
The Portuguese coach added: “We will try to maintain our winning run and get the three poins. Although the team has not been at its best, we will look to give our best in the upcoming matches.”
Asked about the international break and its benefits, Ferreira said: “We have benefitted a lot from the break. The young players played in the Cup and showed their abilities. I would have liked to have all the players with us to improve on our tactical work; this is very important for the team.”
Ferreira refused to speak on the expected lineup for the game. “I don’t like to talk about the return of the injured players or the expected lineup. All the players are equal.”
“Qatar SC are a strong team and it’s going to be a tough game.”
As for Baghdad Bounedjah’s fitness, Ferreira said that the Algerian striker’s return to action will be a gradual process and that he may not be in his best form when he returns.
The Al-Sadd coach concluded by saying: “I am not satisfied with the performance of the team until now, although my team has been working and there have been three wins. This is despite the injuries and the absence of players.”
