Ferreira: It was a difficult victory, long way to go

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness with his side’s 2-1 win over Al-Ahli in the Qatar Stars League Round 2 game played on Friday.

Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “Al-Sadd played a big match against a strong Ahli team. We missed numerous chances. Al-Ahli also put up a good performance although we were the better team in the first half while in the second half, we were equal.”

The Portuguese went on to add: “Al-Ahli attacked and put pressure but the Al-Sadd defence managed to block their attempts. Their goal came from a positioning error.” Ferreira also pointed out that the Wolves played with a number of youngsters as the team is missing players due to injuries.

Ferreira also said: “The match against Al-Ahli was tougher than the one against Al-Kharaitiyat. There is a big difference between the teams. We studied videos of Al-Ahli well and this made it easier for us to get the three points.”

He went on to conclude by saying: “The campaign is long and Al-Sadd have to win matches and titles because they are a big team. We will work until the end and we will win titles despite knowing that there are big teams to compete with us. Al-Sadd are the most successful team in terms of titles and the mentality of the players, coaches and officials is to win titles. This is my mentality too as long as I work with the club. We will give our best even though the task is not easy.”
