Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira has spoken out about the manner of the defeat against El Jaish in Round 13 of the QSL, saying that his players were disparate and mixed in their play during the match. He said that he saw two different matches in the two different halves of the match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “We played well after El-Jaish scored the opening goal and we managed to score twice. We put in a good performance in the 30 minutes. But with the start of the second half, things changed completely. We made a lot of errors which gave Jaish the opportunities to score the three goals.”
The Portuguese coach added: “In the second half, we did not come out to play football and we conceded easy goals. Everyone is responsible for this defeat, with the kind of huge fall in our performance. There are a lot of issues that need to corrected.” He went on to say that he did not have enough time to work with the team, with a match coming up every four days.
Ferreira also said: “I do not accept this kind of defeat, conceding four goals; the team as a whole is guilty for this huge loss. The players were not really focused. I will talk to them and we will analyze what happened. We can do nothing but work in the upcoming period.”
The coach went on to make a promise: “I promise you that the team will return quickly after this fall, despite missing 5 players for the game against Mesaimeer as they will be away with the Olympic team. I had hoped they would be present. We will correct the mistakes that occurred, which were used mercilessly by Jaish to get the four-goal win.”
