Ferreira: I did not recognize my team today
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his sense of frustration after his side lost 1-0 to Al-Khor in the QNB Stars League Round 21 match played on Saturday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “The performance was not satisfactory; I did not recognize my team in this match. I feel sad and ashamed after this result. Congratulations to Al-Khor.”
“Al-Khor managed to win with little effort and they were lucky to score the goal that gave them the three points,” added the coach, while pointing out that Al-Sadd normally did not play in this manner and that “the players need to learn their lesson well today.”
He went on: “This defeat is a lesson to the players. They need to know that I am very angry and I will not accept this in the coming matches.”
Ferreira also added that Al-Sadd have important matches coming up and should not repeat this performance. “We have important clashes coming up in the AFC Champions League and in the domestic cups as well. What happened today should not be repeated again. Al-Sadd are a big team and do not accept such defeats.”
As for Pedro’s sending off, Ferreira said: “From my position, I wasn’t able to see the incident. But maybe, he could have been shown a yellow. Also, the added time was three minutes and it should have been more. However, I don’t want to talk about refereeing decisions.”
