Ferreira: Happy with the win; the result was unexpected but deserved

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness and complete satisfaction after his side defeated Al-Rayyan 5-0 in the QSL Round 10 match played on Wednesday night.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I did not expect this result, winning by five goals but I did predict a win. The result happened because we played better than the other team and controlled the match. From the beginning of the match, Al-Rayyan left a lot of space while looking to score a goal. We worked to exploit those spaces in the right manner and score from most of the chances that came our way.”

He went on to add: “I congratulate the players for the performance. We prepared well for this match. The players worked on implementing everything we asked of them. We played with confidence and we achieved what we wanted. We are happy with big win which gives us a lot of confidence, especially with the other big match that we have to play four days from now. I hope we keep winning in the coming matches.”

The boss also said: “I am happy with the presence of the fans. I am also happy with the focus we showed throughout the 90 minutes. Because of it, things were easy for us. Al-Sadd players were very spirited, especially as they were playing against the defending champions. But we were better and we got a deserved win.”

Ferreira was asked about Al-Rayyan and he replied: “Al-Rayyan are a big team. Today’s result will not break them. They have to return. I am impressed by their coach and their players. In football, the big teams suffer big defeats but come back once again.”
