Ferreira: Happy with the points but not with the performance

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness with the side’s 2-1 win over Al-Gharafa in Round 3 of the QNB Stars League, while stressing on the need to improve on the performance.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira referred to the game as “difficult” and said that Al-Gharafa made it so because of their organized approach and their reliance on counter attacks.

“The match was very difficult, especially in the first half. Al-Gharafa relied on counter attacks and we let them get into our box on multiple occasions, one of which led to the led to the penalty that they scored. Apart from that, our keeper Saad Al-Dosari did not face many problems during the match,” said Ferreira.

He added: “We were the better side in the second half; the red card helped us a lot. (Yet) I am not satisfied with the performance of my team in this match or the last two matches. I hope we can return to our true level like in the last season. We are missing certain key players. In addition to that, we have some new players too who will take some time to gel well with the team.”

Asked about the upcoming league break, Ferreira said: “Of course, we have a break coming up and I hope that it will have a positive effect on the team. I hope the players continue to have a fighting spirit.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “I am happy with the points but I am not satisfied with the performance. We need balance all across the pitch if we are return to our true level.”
