Ferreira: Happy with the big win, title race will be decided in the last round

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his happiness with Al-Sadd’s 4-0 win over Al-Kharaitiyat in Round 11 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I am happy with the win and the score. This is the first clean sheet and it’s a good thing for us. We had a young goalkeeper in Meshaal Barsham who was great throughout the 90 minutes.”

The coach added: “Today is amazing for Al-Sadd with Al-Rayyan losing and Al-Duhail drawing. We are happy with our return to the second place. It is not easy to talk about fluctuating results and the level of the top teams. It is difficult to talk about what happening to Al-Rayyan, with the draw and the defeat in the last two games. Al-Duhail also played with 10 men and this is a difficult thing against an excellent Al-Sailiya side.”

Ferrerira went on to say that the title race will be “decided in the the final round of the second phase.”

“We are happy with the performance of the young players. Now there is a long break and we need this to get back the injured players. There are also many players involved with the national teams,” he said. “I hope we can use the break to rearrange our options.

“In the end, I wish you a happy year with the end of 2017; the next game in the league will be in 2018. I hope that Qatar’s political crisis with its neighbors will end and that peace will return to the region,” Ferreira concluded.
