Ferreira: Happy with our achievements, we now aim to win the league next season

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira was a very happy man after his side clinched the Emir Cup title with a 2-1 win over Al-Rayyan in the final which was played on Friday.

Ferreira expressed his gratitude to all the fans, management and players of the club for all the support and efforts throughout the season, which saw the team lift the Qatar Cup and the Emir Cup.

The coach described the match as “difficult”, saying: “The final was difficult, as Al-Rayyan are a strong opponent and play with the desire to win. However, our players managed to clinch the match before it went to penalties, just as I wanted. The players performed excellently and worked hard for this win, which was the reason for our crowning.”

Ferreira conveyed his particular gratitude to the club’s fans who attended the game in large numbers and supported the team in difficult moments, especially when Al-Rayyan took the lead. “We were behind by a goal but we managed to equalize and we worked hard to finish off the match in normal time itself. This is what happened through Hamroun’s winner in the final moments.”

He also thanked the management for standing with the team since the beginning of the season and suporting them in every way, which helped the team to this achievement.

The gaffer then went on to express his satisfaction with the team’s performance in this season. “The team was looking to win all thre e titles but we just missed out on the league because of some errors. We managed to compensate for that by winning both the Qatar Cup and the Emir Cup. This shows that Al-Sadd will always compete for all the title,” said Ferreira, while pointing out that the league title will be the prime objective for next season, especially as it is the only title that he hasn’t won with the team.
