Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira has said that the upcoming QSL Round 14 match against Mesaimeer will be very tough especially as his team will miss five players who are away with the Olympic team, in addition to the injuries to Xavi and Hassan al-Haydos.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It will be a tough match just like all the other matches in the league, especially the last three matches which were exceptionally difficult and against excellent teams. Al-Sadd are suffering with the absence of the five Olympic team players and also that of Xavi and Al-Haydos who were injured in the last match against El Jaish.”
The Portuguese coach added: “There is no match which is easy. As a coach, I take caution ahead of any match and we need to work on this. We know always we play under the name of a big club that is Al-Sadd and that makes it necessary for us to win every match we play in the different championships, home and abroad.”
As for the competition for the title in light of the big lead of Al-Rayyan, the Al-Sadd coach said: “The title is not impossible to win but the gap is big. There will not be an end to the race until the final few matches of the league. I am the coach of a big club and we need to always play to win. I have previously seen teams lose the title despite having a lead of 9 points.”
He added: “In the QSL, there are a number of teams competing for the title and there still are 13 matches. In addition to that, there are other tournaments we need to win. I hope the players will have a winning mentality and we will always strive for the win.”
Ferreira concluded his talk saying: “Ahead of us a very difficult game. I hope nobody gets injured in the final training session on Saturday evening especially, with the number of injuries and absences we already have.”
