Ferreira: Clash against Al-Sailiya is crucial; title won’t be clinched tomorrow
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira has described his side’s upcoming QSL Round 25 clash against Al-Sailiya as “crucial.”
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Ferreira said: “There are still two more matches to go before the end of the competition and we are going to play until the last minute. We have two matches that are more difficult than the two that our rivals Lekhwiya will play. My thoughts now are only on the Al-Sailiya team, who are a good physical side and will create a lot of problems for us, especially in terms of tiredness as we haven’t had much rest since the game against Al-Rayyan.”
The coach added: “The match against Al-Sailiya is crucial for us. We will wait for Lekhwiya to slip up. Working with the team this season has not been easy as we have faced a lot of problems such as the absence of many players during the international camp breaks. I am happy with what the players have delivered. We saw many good youngsters too; they are going to have a big part in the team.”
Ferreira also said: “We weren’t lucky in many matches this season and we lost many points. We also went out of the Champions League on penalties. All the players gave their best and I hope they continue to do so until the very last minute of the season.”
As for the support from the fans, Ferreira went on to send a message to the supporters of Al-Sadd. He called upon them to attend the game in large numbers as that the players deserved it. He added that Al-Sadd are a big side with great fans and that the team really needs their support.
Ferreira concluded by saying: “The competition for the league title will not conclude on Thursday. Rather it will be the launch of an intense battle.”
