Ferreira: Best Coach award reflects the efforts of the whole team

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of his profound happiness after he was declared as the Best Coach at the 2016-17 QFA Awards ceremony.

After he picked up the trophy, Ferreira said: “This choice reflects the value of the efforts I have put in alongside the coaching staff, in cooperation with the club management. I dedicate this award to all the players and the management of the team because it is not just for myself but for everyone at Al-Sadd. This award gives us a mental boost to go and win more titles in the next season, especially as we are going to participate in many tournaments, both at home and then also the AFC Champions League, to the group stages of which we are returning.”

He went on to add: “Our wins in the Qatar Cup and the Emir Cup came after great effort and it gave us a good ending to the season, as all of us at Al-Sadd wanted.”

The Portuguese coach also said that the award represents a huge responsibility. “I am now required to achieve the best and continue winning. This won’t happen if I am by myself, whatever my abilities are. I need the whole team to work me – the players and the management – because team work is what leads to success at the end of the day.”

Ferreira concluded by saying: “I am continuing with Al-Sadd in the next season as per my contract with the club.”
