Ferreira: Angry with the draw, we must win to regain confidence

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira expressed his anger after his team drew 1-1 with Al-Ahli in Round 17 of the Qatar Stars League.
Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, Ferreira said: “I am very angry with the result and not satisifed with the performance, what with the many errors we committed and how many chances we wasted! It would have been enough to win the match and get three points but the errors denied us that. The players always give their best in training but the opposite happens on the pitch.”
The Portuguese added: “I will always defend my players; the results have not been positive recently but we are working to improve the performance and the results. All we need is a win to regain confidence.”
Ferreira expressed his complete satisfaction with the two new signings Morteza Pouraliganji and Pedro Miguel and their ability to gel with the team quickly and also their defending the team goal from dangerous balls on a number of occasions.
As for the upcoming game against Al-Jazira in the AFC Champions League play off on next Tuesday, the Al-Sadd coach said: “Of course, recent results will have an effect on the players but they have the ability to give their best, perform well and keep the league and Asia separate. We all have confidence in the players and their ability to achieve the goal we are going for.”
Ferreira concluded his talk saying: “It is not just to have the playoff match as a one-off at the home of Al-Jazira, in front of their fans. It would have been better to make it a two-legged tie or play this one-off on neutral ground.”
