Ferreira: Al-Sadd will fight until the last minute to get the win
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira believes that Al-Rayyan will be a difficult opponent to face when the two teams meet in the Qatar Clasico on Friday.
The QNB Stars League Round 6 match will be held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, with kick-off slated for 7:30 PM.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira made it clear that the match was very important for the Wolves. “This match is really important and we are looking to get the three points,” said the coach. “Preparing the players for such matches is easier because they don’t need any motivation or incentive to give their best. Everyone wants to play in a match like this. We will fight until the last minute to get the win.”
The Clasico has seen a lot of goals traditionally and when asked about this, Ferreira said that things might be different this time. “The matches between Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan saw a lot of goals last season. But I think this might change because of the number of changes that have happened to both teams.”
“I don’t think there is any mental pressure on Al-Rayyan because we won the last few matches. This is a different season and there are different players,” added Ferreira.
Ferreira also stated that it was too early in the season to talk about how the match would affect the league campagin. “We are just in the sixth round and it is easy for any team to compensate (for whatever happens in this match). For me, this is a normal match. If we win, I’ll be happy and if we lose, we are capable of making up for it.”
The Portuguese tactician concluded by saying: “Al-Rayyan are a strong team and are one of the three leading teams in the league. Stability in the squad might help them but Al-Sadd are capable of stoping them and getting the win.”
