Ferreira: Al-Sadd are going through an excellent phase; we seek to continue winning

Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke of the difficulty of the upcoming QSL Round 12 match against Al-Sailiya, which will kick off at 4 PM on Friday at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said, “I spoke earlier about Al-Sadd’s results in the last two matches. Of course, I was expecting to win but not by a huge result. Al-Sadd are going through an excellent phase but this doesn’t always happen in football. We need to work to improve our level in order to maintain our position in the table, nearing the end of the first phase of the league.”

“We cannot evaluate the other teams by these huge results. We’ve played 11 matches till now. At Al-Sadd, we seek to continue winning. There is no coach who can say before the match what result they will win by. What we need is for the team to always be attacking and score goals, in addition to avoiding errors, especially I’m goalscoring opportunities,” said Ferreira.

As for the upcoming match, the boss said, “The players are a lot better than they were a couple of months ago. The players know Al-Sadd’s aim. We need to be serious in all matches. Al-Sailiya are strange; their results are varied.”

“As a coach, I’ve witnessed wins and defeats in my career. If we should win, we must start from zero to go on to claim the three points.”
Ferreira also said: “All the teams that play against Al-Sadd have the hunger to win. The Al-Sadd players should avoid getting yellow cards, especially as in the next few games, we cannot afford to miss the players through suspension.”

As for the issue with striker Baghdad Bounedjah, Ferreira said: “Baghdad was on the pitch to play but the Umm Salal players wanted to get him sent off. I spoke to Baghdad and he understands that what happened was not in his or the team’s favor. He is an excellent striker and Al-Sadd depends on him a lot. And so he will be a prominent part of the game against Al-Sailiya.”
