Ferreira: Al-Rayyan match is history now; we need to improve more

​Al-Sadd football team head coach Jesualdo Ferreira spoke to the media on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming match against El Jaish in Round 13 of the Qatar Stars League. The match is set to kick off at 6:30 PM on Monday at the Thani bin Jassim Stadium.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said: “It will be a tough match and we will face a good team with excellent players. We must forget the win over Al-Rayyan; it is history now. We need to focus on the next match against El Jaish and work with greater spirit than we did for the Clasico.”

The Portuguese coach added: “Al-Sadd is a big team and is the biggest in Qatar in terms of achievements, so we need to think like that always until we get the motivation and desire from that to win every match and get closer to the top by closing the gap between us and the leaders.” He also said that the win over Al-Rayyan is normal in football and we deserved it after the good performance we showed in the match.

Asked about the strengths and weaknesses of the El Jaish team, Ferreira said: “I will not speak about the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. El Jaish is a good team and has the know-how to stop their recent run of losses.”

The Al-Sadd coach concluded by repeating that Al Sadd is bigger than all the other teams in terms of achievements. “We must evolve more during the next phase, which requires a lot of work to win every game, which will only come after great effort from the coaching staff and players.”
