Ferreira: Al-Duhail are favourites, we will create problems for them
Al-Sadd head coach Jesualdo Ferreira described his side’s upcoming summit clash against Al-Duhail as “one of the easiest for a manager” as the players don’t need any extra motivation.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Ferreira also said: “The match is going to be entertaining because both teams play with an attacking style.”
“The injuries are not a problem for us because we haven’t had a full squad to choose from since the start of the season,” said the coach, who believes his side are now used to the situation. “Our philosophy is to win. The mentality of the players is to only go for the win. We will work to get the win at Al-Duhail’s ground and all our players are ready for the game.”
When asked if the game would be a title decider, Ferreira said: “It may or may not be so. This depends on who will win. Al-Duhail are the favourites. They got a further day of rest, compared to Al-Sadd and are also the defending champions. As for us, we haven’t won the league in a while.”
Ferreira also pointed out that he has plans in mind to counter any surprises from the Al-Duhail coach. “If there are any surprises, then let them come. We will also create problems for them that nobody will expect.”
The Al-Sadd coach was asked to comment on the chocie of a foreign referee for the game. “I would have been happy if the refereeing panel was Qatari because there is no big difference between Qatari and foreign referees. Throughout the times we have had Qatari referees, they have been at a good level,” said Ferreira, while also adding: “I hope the referees for the upcoming game will be the stars of the match by giving a performance better than both the teams!”
As for the lineup for the game, Ferreira said: “We will play with whoever is fit. The names don’t matter to me.”
Ferreira concluded by saying: “Al-Sadd have suffered from injuries lately, especially in attack with Baghdad Bounedjah. I hope we won’t have any injuries tomorrow, as we have a lot of important matches coming up both domestically and in Asia as well.
