Fahad Shanin: Huge honour to be with Al-Sadd; my ambition knows no bounds

Al-Sadd’s Fahad Shanin spoke to the club website in an interview, describing his delight to be with the team after returning from playing in Europe.

“I am happy to return to Al-Sadd again, especially as I am a product of the club. I joined the youth setup in 2002, going up until the U17 team before leaving for German club Dusseldorf in 2012. Later, I went on to Eupen in Belgium, where I spent two seasons with the B team before joining the first team,” said Shanin.

“Returning to Al-Sadd is a big honour as it is my home. Despite the other offers that I had, my desire to be with Al-Sadd confirmed my destination. The management’s decision to retain me gave me a lot of confidence after the end of my stay at Eupen. I am at the best team in Qatar and I will face a huge challenge with them.”

The youngster also spoke of what he gained during his time in Europe, saying that five years playing there helped to hugely improve his performances and to focus on all the aspects of football. “It helped improve my speed and power, especially as the Belgian league is much more intense than the Arab leagues. This is what will help me face the upcoming challenge. I hope I can fulfill all the expectations,” he said.

Shanin described the conditions at the preseason camp in Bad Häring as ‘ideal’, saying: “The conditions are ideal and there is a family atmosphere here. I have played with most of the players in the national team and at Aspire, so I managed to get in sync with them quickly. With factors like these and also the presence of big stars like Xavi, Al-Sadd are going to be much better in the coming season.”

The upcoming star then went on to talk of his wishes for the new season: “The first is to perform well for the team and win titles. I also want the Al-Sadd fans to be satisfied with the team’s performances.” Shanin also stated his desire to play for the national team, which is one of his topmost priorities. “Joining the national team is an important thing for me. I will always be ready to answer the call of the management at any time.”
