Estad Doha crowns Al-Haydos as 2015 Player of the Year

Estad Doha magazine held a ceremony on Wendesday morning to honour Al-Sadd star Hassan al-Haydos who was selected as the Qatar Player of the Year 2015. The ceremony was held in the presence of Gulf Cup III MVP Mohammed Ghanem al-Romaihi, who was the chief guest; alongside Majed al-Kholaifi, chief editor of Estad Doha; Abdulla al-Marri, Head of Sport at Al-Rayah; Mohammed Hajji, chief editor of Al-Arab; Jassim al-Hardan, Head of Publications at Aspire; Ahmed al-Ansari, media official of Al-Sadd and Mohammed Saeed, Al-Sadd first team official.
Al-Haydos was selected as the Best Player for the second year running after the vote conducted by the Estad Doha magazine. He came on top of the list with 234 points, ahead of Al-Rayyan captain Rodrigo Tabata who finished with 193 points. Al-Sadd and Qatar national team star Ali Asad was third with 95 points. Following them was Sebastian Soria, with 82 points.
The system of voting was such that each invitee had to nominate three players, with the first choice getting 5 points, second choice getting 3 points and the final choice getting 2.
During the calendar year of 2015, Hassan al-Haydos finished as the top-scorer of the national team with 6 goals in 15 matches, of which 9 were official ones from the 2015 AFC Asian Cup and the joint qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, in addition to 6 friendly matches.
Al-Sadd was also honoured during the ceremony with Majed al-Khulaifi presenting first team official Mohammed Saeed with a special shield to honour the great work done by Al-Sadd in discovering and nurturing Qatari talent.
