Daniel Carreno, head coach of the Qatar national football team, has expressed his happiness with the level of the Al-Sadd players that he witnessed while watching their friendly match against Al-Nassr. The match was held as part of the Kaprun training camp that aims at preparing the team for the 2015/16 season.
Carreno said to the al-saddclub.com:”The level of the Al-Sadd players was very good, against a strong team like Al-Nassr. This current preparatory phase is considered the true measure for the players ahead of their upcoming season, which will see great competition in locally, in Asia and also internationally with the national team.”
The Uruguayan coach said that there is a noticeable rise in the performances of some players who are considered crucial to the national team, which has some tough matches lined up in the World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Gulf Cup.
As for his goal in touring the training camps of different clubs, Carreno said that he wanted to see for himself the condition of the players and to communicate with the coaches, especially as the bulk of the national squad is from three clubs: Al-Sadd, Lekhwiya and Al-Jaish. Carreno also confirmed that the squad for the national team camp in Switzerland would be announced in two days. He added that it would not be different from the squad announced in June.
When asked about the national team and its upcoming matches, Carreno said: “The national team is up against a tough challenge and the upcoming period is very important to prepare for it. We have to work very hard in this period until we become fully prepared to meet the targets we have set.”
Carreno also mentioned that he would be present at the second of our preseason friendlies, which will be against Al Ain on Wednesday, 5th of August.
