Mohammed Ghanem al-Ali (Bu Ghanem), Head of Football at Al-Sadd has expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Al-Sadd players in the 2-2 draw with Umm Salal in Round 2 of the QSL.
Bu Ghanem said that the draw was disappointing and underwhelming for the fans and the management who always hope for wins, especially as the goal this season is to compete for the title. He added that Umm Salal played in a defensive manner throughout the match and this always happens in matches against Al-Sadd. He went on to say that Al-Sadd players lost their ferocity in front of goal, in addition to committing many errors – things that should not be expected from a team trying to win the league title.
The head of football said that Al-Sadd has always had the character of a champion and the players and the coaching staff should show it to win. The team will face similar scenarios where opponents play defensively; Al-Sadd has become accustomed to it. He said that Al-Sadd players have enough experience to overcome it.
Bu Ghanem also stressed on the importance of striving hard in the coming days to restore balance and reach full readiness after losing two points against Umm Salal. The team needs to give its best and play hard in both defence and attack; the players need to always show the identity of Al-Sadd.
Concluding his chat, Bu Ghanem said that the difficulty of the matches would only increase in the upcoming rounds and that the team needs to prepare well for that. The season is going to be different, especially in light of the work put in by all teams. Finally, the head of football reiterated his confidence in the ability of the players to correct their errors in the coming matches.
