Bounedjah: Important win; 3 points are more important than my goals

Al-Sadd’s Algerian star Baghdad Bounedjah spoke of his great delight after scoring twice in the 4-0 win over Al-Kharaitiyat in the QSL Round 1 game played on Friday.

Speaking after the match, Bounedjah said: “It is an important win. For me, the three points are more important for me than me scoring goals. These goals are the result of team work and everyone participates in it; it is not just Bounedjah.”

He added: “The first 20 minutes were difficult, especially as Al-Kharaitiyat defended hard. But once we managed to score, the play opened up and then more goals came. We achieved a deserved win at the beginning of the campaign. But the league is still long. We will try to give the best we have to make the fans happy.”

Bounedjah also went on to say: “When there are three players of a high calibre alongside me, this is a great thing. The player has to be really focused because he could get the opportunity to score at any moment. We are now at the peak of harmony and understanding in the team while last year, we did not know each other well. But this year, from the start, we prepared well at the training camps and also using the experience of Hassan Al-Haydos, Xavi, Khalfan, Al-Sadd are capable of giving better performances.”
