Bounedjah: I am happy in Qatar, there are no limits to my ambition
On Day 12 of the 2017-18 preseason camp in Bad Häring, Al-Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah spoke to the club website in an interview, sharing his views about the upcoming season and the preparations for it.
Bounedjah started off talking about the difficulty of the previous season. “It was very difficult for the team (but) we won two important titles, which made our fans happy. This is the duty of the players.”
He continued: “We are working hard now over two sessions in the morning and evening in order to reach full readiness ahead of the new season. I hope the players avoid injuries and the squad is complete ahead of the start of the league.”
As for the competition in the new season, Bounedjah said: “The competition is going to be tough, after Lekhwiya and El-Jaish merged to become Al-Duhail and all the changes that have happened at Al-Arabi and Al-Gharafa, who have both added to their ranks.”
The Al-Sadd top scorer added: “I scored 29 goals in all competitions during last season. In the upcoming season, I will strive to score more and help the team to compete in all tournaments. I am very happy to play in the AFC Champions League with the team, from the group stages. This is important for Al-Sadd, after we went out of the competition at the playoff stage last season.”
Bounedjah extended his contract with Al-Sadd recently and he expressed his delight with the development. “For me, extending the contract with Al-Sadd was the biggest decision for me, as I am very satisfied to be in Qatar. There is a good understanding between me and the club management. I hope I can always give my best and help the team win titles.”
At the end of the interview, Bounedjah concluded by saying: “Al-Sadd fans are great; they stood with the players a lot despite losses and even before we won. We thank them and we hope they continue to support us.”
