With regards to his contract, Belhadj expressed his happiness at securing a two-year extension and his thanks to the club for its professional conduct. Signing on for two more years was a foregone conclusion, as he considers Al-Sadd his home and the last five years at the club the best period of his career. This was why he was able to easily reject other offers and sign on to continue with the Wolves.
Belhadj said that he gave his all for the club last season in what was a tough and exhausting time for the team. He was satisfied with his performance but believes that he can do much better in the coming season. As for the team, Belhadj stated that nobody at the club was happy with second place; everybody is working to improve on that in 2015/16.

The Algerian also talked about the arrival of Xavi Hernandez in the team. He said that it was a dream to play and train alongside Xavi, who will be a great addition to the team. He spoke of how Xavi can help motivate and improve the young players in the team.
