Former Barcelona and current Al-Sadd star Xavi Hernandez presented Carlo Ancelotti, who was until recently the Real Madrid manager, with the Inspiring Leader award during the Leaders Under 40 awards ceremony in London. The ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum in the British capital and was attended by a number of former footballers, including Gaizka Mendieta and Clarence Seedorf.
The ceremony also witnessed the distribution of prizes to the winners of the most influential sports executive personalities in the areas of leadership, marketing & communications, sales & commerce, technology, brand & sponsorship and also for the most inspirational athletes. The winners were selected in each category by a panel of judges made up of about 15 prestigious names from the world of sport.
The 2015 ceremony saw the first edition of the awards which were distributed to several active figures in the following categories:
Leadership: Hicham Amrani, secretary general of the Confederation of African Football – Brand & Sponsorship: Shane Eggert, Head of Sports Marketing for Red Bull (North America) – Marketing & Communications: Janet Duch, senior vice president of marketing at Madison Square Garden – Sales & Commercial: Brad Sims, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of the Cleveland Cavaliers – Technology: Tom Griffiths, CPO and co-founder of FanDuel.
The Leaders Under 40 awards were constituted last year, the fruit of a partnership project between the Aspire Academy and Leaders. It aims to reward excellence in sports by industry leaders who have not crossed forty years of age in various sports fields.
