Hussein Amouta, head coach of Al-Sadd football team first team, has expressed his complete satisfaction with the performance of his players in the preseason friendly defeat to Al-Nassr, in the match that was held at the Kufstein Arena in Austria on Sunday night.
Despite the friendly coming so soon after preseason training started, Amouta said that his players showed a lot of responsibility, putting up a great performance and dominating play on many occasions. He also said that the team benefitted a lot from the match, with their opponent coming up with strong physical play. More importantly, all the Al-Sadd players finished the match without any injuries.
Amouta also lauded the efforts of the young and reserve players in the team, who were put in to the lineup in the second half. He said that they performed excellently, especially against a team like Al-Nassr who used most of its first string talent until the end of the match.
The Moroccan admitted that errors were committed in the match, especially with regards to defending from setpieces. He promised to work on these issues in the upcoming period, so that the team starts the season fully prepared and having overcome its problems.
According to Amouta, the training camp is progressing very well and according to plan. Working dedicatedly and focussing well in training has resulted in a noticeable improvement in the performances of the players.
As for the awaited return of Khalfan Ibrahim to the lineup, Amouta said that he is still undergoing his fitness regimen to achieve the adequate readiness to take part in matches. Meanwhile, the Spanish star Xavi played his first match for his new team against Al-Nassr, and Amouta was full of praise of him. He particularly praised his great performances in the match, scoring the equalizing goal on his debut. He also said that Xavi had fit in quickly after joining the team for the Austrian training camp.
Amouta ended his chat with the official website saying that he does not hide his delight with the way the training camp has turned out. For the first time in many years, all the players are available for preseason training and this means that the club will be full of confidence as it seeks to compete for all titles in the season up ahead.
