Al-Sadd football team head coach Hussein Amouta has expressed his pride in winning five titles, in and beyond Qatar, after joining Al-Sadd five years ago.
Speaking to the Moroccan newspaper Assabah in an interview conducted recently, Amouta also said that his team was close to winning the QSL title this season, if not for refereeing errors. His reactions to what he termed as “refereeing injustice” was in view of throwing some light on many decisions that went against his team at the hands of certain referees.
Despite that, Amouta said that Al-Sadd have turned the page on the past season and will now work towards rectifying their mistakes during their pre-season training camp in Austria.
He refuted the suggestion that the past season was a failure, saying that Al-Sadd had won two titles and would have won more if not for mistakes committed in the final matches and injuries, especially those that affected Muriqui and Saleh al Yazidi.
Amouta also added that Raul and Xavi were signed to boost the image of the club across the continent and the world and also help young players, pointing out that the expertise, experience and football ethic that Xavi brings, would greatly benefit the game in Qatar.
Amouta also expressed his hope of returning to his country through the door of the Moroccan national team.
