Al-Sadd wrap up preparations for Hienghene clash, Ferreira makes a visit
Al-Sadd held their final training session today at the club’s secondary pitch, wrapping up their preparations for facing Hienghene Sport in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019, which will kick off at 8:30 PM on Wednesday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Head coach Xavi announced the 23-member squad for the game, which is as follows: Saad Al-Dosari, Meshal Barsham, Youssef Abdullah, Ali Asad, Hussein Behzad, Hassan Al-Haydos, Baghdad Bounedjah, Hamed Ismail, Gabi, Tarek Salman, Khoukhi Boualem, Salem Al-Hajri, Akram Afif, Nam Tae-hee, Jung Woo-young, Yasir Abubakr, Hashim Ali Abdullatif, Rami Suhail, Mustafa Meshal, Pedro Miguel, Faisal Muhammad, Abdulaziz Al-Ansari and Abdulkarim Hassan.
After the training, the Wolves left for an overnight camp at Al-Messila Resort, where they will stay until the time of departure for the game.
Ferriera attends Al-Sadd training session
On Tuesday, Al-Sadd’s training session witnessed a special visit by the team’s former Portuguese coach, Jesualdo Ferriera, who is in Doha on a visit. Ferreira was keen to greet the coach Xavi, in addition to the players and the technical and administrative staff, wishing them success in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Movement exercises
During the closing session, the Al-Sadd players underwent light skill training with the ball, which included the movement and technical drills, along with the implementation of some special strategies on attacking the goal from deep and from the wings.
A special celebration for Afif
The players and staff of Al-Sadd held a short ceremony before the start of the closing session on Tuesday in honour of the team’s star Akram Afif, after he was crowned as the best player in Asia. Akram was presented with the award by the president of the AFC, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa.
