Al-Sadd to launch preparations for new season on July 7

The Al-Sadd first team is set to launch their preparations for the new 2019/20 season on Sunday, the 7th of July with the domestic players of the squad, and in the absence of the foreign players. This will mark the beginning of the preseason phase, ahead of the overseas camp in Spain.

This year, Al-Sadd have opted to hold the overseas camp in Girona, 100 kilometres away from Barcelona. The camp will be held from July 14-29 and will feature a number of friendly games that will help the team prepare for the upcoming AFC Champions League Round of 16 tie with Al-Duhail in August.

Before traveling to Spain, the team will undergo physical examinations and other tests in Doha. This will help ensure the fitness and readiness of each player prior to selecting the squad for the camp.

The upcoming season is set to be the first as a coach for former Al-Sadd captain Xavi Hernandez, who was announced as the new boss in May.
