Al-Sadd resume training without a break
The Al-Sadd first team resumed training on Thursday on the club’s secondary pitch as part of the preparations for the upcoming game against Mexican side Monterrey in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019. The game is set to be played on Saturday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
Thursday’s session saw the team in high spirits after their opening 3-1 win over Hienghene Sport, the champions of Oceania.
The coaching staff set light running exercises as recovery for the group of players who had appeared in Wednesday’s game, while the rest of the team underwent physical and technical training drills. There was also a practice mini-game between the players.
The final training session before the Monterrey game will be held on Friday from 6:15 PM onwards. The technical coordination meeting will be held on the same day from 1:30 PM onwards, and it will involve discussion of the organisational details of the game, in addition to the revealing of the two clubs’ kits.
As for the pre-match press conference, it will begin at 5:30 PM at the club’s conference hall, with head coach Xavi Hernandez and midfielder Salem Al-Hajri in attendance.
Meanwhile, former Al-Sadd star Felipe Jorge visited the team on Thursday at their training session. The Brazilian maestro was afforded a cordial reception by the players and staff.
