Al-Sadd lose to Ufa in preseason friendly
The Al-Sadd football first team lost 0-1 to Russian Premier League side Ufa FC in the first preseason friendly played as part of the 2016/17 foreign training camp being held in Austria.
The first half ended goalless with neither side posing any real danger and most of the battles playing out in midfield.
With the start of the second half, Al-Sadd made a number of changes with Gaser Yahya, Ayoob Mashhoor and Meshaal Al-Shammari replacing Xavi, Ali Asad and Abdelkarim Hassan. Ufa FC then managed to score the opener in the 64nd minute before Al-Sadd went on to make further substitutions. Although Al-Sadd looked to get back into the game, the Russian side held on to register a 1-0 win.
This match was the first test for the Wolves after commencing the foreign training camp in Kaprun, Austria on the 16th of July. The group of youngsters in the team were able to shine in the match, especially in the second half, playing against Ufa FC who retained most of their stars until the final whistle.
The Wolves began the match with the following lineup: Saad Al-Dosari, Morteza Pouraliganji, Ibrahim Majid, Hossam Kamal, Abdelkarim Hassan, Salem Al-Hajri, Ali Asad, Xavi, Mohammed Kasola, Khalfan Ibrahim, Hassan Al-Haydos.
Muhannad Naim, Ayoob Mashhoor, Gaser Yahya, Meshaal Al-Shammari, Pedro, Ghassan Waheed, Abdulaziz Al-Hamad, Ahmed Sohail and Mohammed Waad came on in the second half.
