Al-Sadd lose 4-2 to Al-Duhail in QNB Stars League
Al-Sadd fell to a 4-2 defeat to Al-Duhail in the QNB Stars League Round 9 game that was played on Friday. The result means that Al-Sadd drop to third place in the league table with 21 points from 7 wins and 2 defeats.
Almoez Ali opened the scoring for Al-Duhail in the 7th minute, after he took advantage of Ali Asad’s misplaced pass to Yasser Abubakar in the box and netted past Saad Al-Dosari.
Al-Sadd replied soon enough and Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah continued his scoring streak with the equaliser in the 12th minute. Hassan Al-Haydos sent in a cross from the right and the Al-Duhail defence failed to deal with it properly, giving Bounedjah the opportunity to convert from close range.
Not long after that, Al-Duhail regained the lead through Youssef El Arabi who socred off a pass from Youssef Msakni to make the score 2-1.
Al-Sadd tried hard to equalise once again but their efforts were dealt a blow when Bounedjah had to leave the field with an injury in the 42nd minute. He was replaced by midfielder Salem Al-Hajri, making way for Al-Haydos and Jugurtha Hamroun to play up front.
In the second half, Al-Sadd continued to look for a second goal but it was proving difficult to get. Instead, it was Al-Duhail who mangaed to score, with Bassam Hisham getting on the scoresheet in the 72nd minute. The youngster sent a powerful shot at goal from outside the box and it went in to give Al-Duhail a 3-1 lead.
Substitute Hassan Ahmed then gave Al-Sadd some hope with a goal in the 80th minute. After Hamroun got into the box, a scramble for the ball ensued; Hassan then managed to prod it home to reduce the deficit for the Wolves.
However, Al-Duhail went on to extend the scoreline with another goal at the end of normal time. After a defensive mistake from Al-Sadd, Nam Tae-hee controlled the ball and finished calmly to score what was to be the final goal of the game, as Al-Duhail registered a 4-2 win.
