Al-Sadd lose 1-5 to Al-Rayyan in QSL Cup
Al-Sadd were beaten 1-5 by Al-Rayyan in a Group B fixture in Round 2 of the QSL Cup, which was played at the Al-Khor Stadium on Wednesday. The result means that the Wolves remain without any points after the defeat to Al-Markhiya in Round 1.
Abdelrazak Hamedallah opened the scoring for Al-Rayyan in the 11th minute, heading in after a cross from the left.
The Moroccan striker made it 2-0 to Al-Rayyan with his second goal in the 18th minute, which came via a powerful strike from outside the box that was deflected in off Ghassan Waheed.
Sebastian Soria then scored in the 37th minute with a powerful strike from inside the box that nestled in the left corner of the goal.
Al-Rayyan thus went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Al-Rayyan extended their lead further with a penalty in the 59th minute. The penalty was awarded after Musa Haroon was brought down in the box by Hatem Kamal, who was sent off.
Another penalty gave Al-Rayyan their fifth goal in the 63rd minute, when Abdulrahman Al-Harazi netted from the spot after Abdulaziz Bakheet fouled Abdelrazak Hamedallah.
Al-Sadd finally got a consolation goal and it was also from a penalty. In the 75th minute, Al-Rayyan goalkeeper Saoud Al-Khater was adjudged to have fouled Meshaal Al-Shammari, who duly converted the resultant spot kick to take the score to 1-5.
