Al-Sadd impress in 4-0 win over Al-Gharafa
Al-Sadd kept up the pressure on leaders Al-Duhail with another impressive victory in the QNB Stars League, after defeating Al-Gharafa 4-0 in the Round 14 game played on Thursday evening.
Jugurtha Hamroun and Hassan Al Haydos scored a brace apiece to give the Wolves their second straight win and lift their points tally to 34.
After orchestrating a few chances to score in the opening thirty minutes, Al-Sadd broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute. Al Haydos slipped past Robert Quijada before squaring the ball for Hamroun to finish from close range.
In the final minute of the first half, Hamroun doubled Al-Sadd’s lead with another strike. Hamid Ismail did well to send in a perfect cross from the right, just in place for Hamroun. While the Algerian’s first effort came off the goalkeeper, he made no mistake from the second go.
Al-Sadd had further opportunities to extend their lead in the second half, with Ali Asad and Hamid Ismail coming close to getting on the scoresheet.
In the 68th minute, Al-Gharafa’s Thamir Jamal was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card for a foul on Hamid.
Hamroun then had a glorious chance to complete his hat-trick but his shot went wide of the goal.
A third goal finally arrived for Al-Sadd in the 73rd minute and it was Al-Haydos who got it. Hamroun dribbled through the right before sending a through ball for Al-Haydos to convert from inside the box.
Al-Haydos made it 4-0 in the 87th minute, after finishing off Hassan Ahmed’s cross following a brilliant team move.
