Al-Sadd holds main training session to prepare for Qatar Cup final

Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session from 6:15 PM on Thursday evening on the main pitch of the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, as part of the preparation for the upcoming 2017 Qatar Cup final against El-Jaish, which will be played on Saturday.

The Wolves go into the final after finishing second in the recently concluded Qatar Stars League season. They followed that up with a 3-2 win over Al-Rayyan in the semifinal of the Qatar Cup. As for El-Jaish, they finished fourth in the league before defeating Lekhwiya 3-2 in the other semifinal of the Qatar Cup.

Al-Sadd is looking to win its first title in the Qatar Cup after its rebranding.

Thursday’s training session saw the players put to their paces by the coaching staff, under the supervision of head coach Jesualdo Ferreira, who looked to select his options for the starting lineup. The coaches focused on tactical training, that involved shooting and also drills aimed at improving the movement of the players.

Support from the management

Representatives of the team management attended the training session at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, in order to show their support for the team ahead of the big match.

Pre-session meeting

Before the start of the session, the coaching staff held a meeting with the players at the centre circle of the pitch to discuss the important aspects of the Qatar Cup final, which will require a lot of focus in order to win.

Kasola suspended

Midfielder Mohamed Kasola will miss the action against El-Jaish after he was sent off in the last game against Al-Rayyan.

Saad Al-Dosari returns

Goalkeeper Saad Al-Dosari is set to return to the lineup ahead of the Qatar Cup final after he missed the semifinal due to suspension.

Hussam Kamal misses the session

Youngster Hussam Kamal missed the group training session on Thursday and instead underwent recovery and recuperation after feeling some pain in his ankle.

Final session and matchday squad

Al-Sadd are now set to hold their final training session from 6:30 PM on Friday at the club’s training pitch. After the session, head coach Ferreira will announce the matchday squad for the Qatar Cup final. Later, the team will leave for a closed camp.
