Al-Sadd holds main training session to prepare for Lekhwiya

The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Friday evening at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, ahead of the upcoming Qatar Stars League Round 3 match against Lekhwiya on Sunday.

The Wolves go into the match having six points in their tally following two wins out of the first two games of the season – a 4-0 win over Al-Kharaitiyat and a 2-1 win over Al-Ahli. Lekhwiya also have six points after winning their first two games – a 4-0 win over Muaither and a 5-4 win over Al-Gharafa.

Head coach Jesualdo Ferreira used Friday’s training session to practice with the lineup that will play the match. The session primarily dealt with tactical and strategical aspects of the match, including ways of applying pressure as group and as an individual, in addition to quick movement and passing. Ferreira intervened on occasions to point out errors and correct them.

On a different note, let’s take a look back at the same fixture last season: Lekhwiya come out 4-2 winners in the first phase while Al-Sadd won the second match 3-2.
