Al-Sadd holds main training session to prepare for crucial Al-Duhail clash

The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Tuesday evening at the club’s training facility, ahead of the crucial QNB Stars League Round 19 game against Al-Duhail. The game is set to kick off at 6 PM on Thursday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Al-Sadd will go into the match in high spirits after registering a big 5-0 win over Al-Ahli in their last game, keeping them just two points behind the league leaders Al-Duhail. The Wolves can now go top if they defeat Al-Duhail, with three further games remaining in the season.

Before Tuesday’s main training session, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira and his staff held a meeting with the players to talk to them about the match objectives and the importance of the clash which could decide the title race.

The coaching staff implemented tactical training, with specialized attacking and movement drills. Later, the players faced off against each other in a mini-game.

Management shows their support

Members of the Al-Sadd management made sure they were present at Monday’s session to show their support for the team ahead of the big game.

Intense training for the goalkeepers

The goalkeeping trio of Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham and Jehad Mohammed underwent intense training under the supervision of goalkeeping coach Luca Squinzani, who worked on their agility, balance and reactions.

Shooting practice

The second half of the session saw the players practice their shooting from the wings and from deep.

Morteza remains out of action

Al-Sadd will miss the services of Iranian international defender Morteza Pouraliganji, who suffered a muscle injury during the last game against Al-Ahli.

Al-Haydos continues rehabilitation

Hassan Al-Haydos will also be unavailable for the game against Al-Duhail. The forward continued his rehabilitation programme on Monday, training alone under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, ahead of reaching full fitness and rejoining group training in the upcoming days.

Ferreira and Hamid to attend press conference

The pre-match press conference for the game against Al-Duhail will be held from 5 PM on Wednesday at the conference hall of Al-Sadd Sports Club, with Ferreira and Hamid Ismail set to attend.

Final session and matchday squad

The team will hold their final training session from 6 PM on Wednesday at the club’s training facility, after which the head coach will announce the matchday squad for the game.
