Al-Sadd holds main training session to prepare for Al-Arabi

The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Thursday as part of preparations for the upcoming Qatar Stars League match against Al-Arabi. The match will kick off at 7:45 PM on Saturday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium of Lekhwiya Club.
Al-Sadd go into the match while sitting in third place in the league table with 14 points from 4 wins and 2 draws, while Al-Arabi are in 4th place with 12 points. Al-Sadd drew their last game with Al-Khor 0-0 whereas Al-Arabi lost their 5-2.
The training session saw the participation of all the stars of the team with the return of the Olympic national team trio – Meshaal al-Shammari, Nasser Ibrahim and Ayoob Mashhoor – after their international duty during the GCC Games in Dammam. The coaching staff were keen to improve the technical and physical readiness of the players ahead of the game. The players appeared to be in high spirits during the session.
Led by head coach Hussein Amouta, the coaches oversaw technical exercises with the ball, which varied between the offensive and defensive aspects. Later Amouta divided the players into two groups and made them play a practice match in the middle of the park. Some tactical moves which could be used in the game against Al-Arabi were tried out during the match.
The strikers were also given special focus during the session with different attacking moves practiced both from deep and from the wings.
Bu Ghanem supports the team
Mohammed Ghanem al-Ali, Head of Football at Al-Sadd, attended the session on Thursday to show his support for the players ahead of the game against Al-Arabi.
Al-Dosari continues to be absent
Al-Sadd main goalkeeper Saad al-Dosari continues to be absent from action due to his muscle injury he sustained during the match against Al-Ahli in Round 4.
Dead ball situations practiced
Amouta made the players practice various dead ball situations from deep and from the wings along with the ways of dealing with it offensively and defensively.
Final session and squad list
Al-Sadd will hold its final training session for the Al-Arabi match on Friday at the secondary pitch, after which Amouta will announce the list of probables for the match.
