Al-Sadd holds main training session ahead of facing Al-Duhail in Super Cup
The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session from 6:30 PM on Thursday evening at the club’s training facility, to prepare for the upcoming 2017-18 Sheikh Jassim Cup (Super Cup) final against Al-Duhail. The match is set to be played on Saturday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Al-Sadd qualified for the Super Cup by winning the Emir Cup last season, after beating Al-Rayyan 2-1 in the final whereas Al-Duhail are playing in the Cup after winning the QSL title.
The training session saw the return of Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji from international duty, which saw him play for his national team in the World Cup qualifiers against Korea Republic and Syria.
Before the start of the session, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira and his staff talked to the players about the team’s objectives ahead of the match.
The coaching staff implemented some tactical moves which focused on the players’ movement before going on to hold a practice mini-match between the players.
The three goalkeepers (Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham and Jehad Mohammed) underwent intense training under the supervision of goalkeeping coach Luca Squinzani who made them work on their agility, balance and reactions.
The team is now set to hold its final pre-match session from 6:30 PM on Friday, after which the head coach will announce the matchday squad.
