Al-Sadd holds main training session ahead of Al-Wakrah game

The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session from 5:30 PM on Friday ahead of the upcoming QSL Round 7 game against Al-Wakrah, which is set to be played at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium on Sunday (kickoff at 4 PM).

The Wolves go into the match in high spirits after winning their last QSL match before the league break with a 4-0 defeat of Al-Shahaniya. The result put Al-Sadd in second place in the league table with 14 points. As for the opponents Al-Wakrah, they are in the 14th position with 1 point.

Return of the internationals

Friday’s main session witnessed the return of Al-Sadd’s eight Qatari internationals who were away with the senior national team for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against China. The players are: Saad Al-Dosari, Mohammed Kasola, Ibrahim Majid, Pedro, Salem Al-Hajri, Hamed Ismail, Ali Asad and Hassan Al-Haydos.

Physical & technical training

The coaching staff focused on raising the fitness and technical levels of the players, all of who appeared ready and in high spirits. The coaches put the players to their paces and supervised as they underwent technical training with ball. This was followed by a practice match which was played between the players of the squad, during which certain tactical moves were implemented.

Priority given to attack

The session on Friday also saw prioirity being given to the team’s attack with a focus on attacking moves from the wings and from deep.

Khalfan returns to group training

Meanwhile, Al-Sadd midfielder Khalfan Ibrahim rejoined group training after recovering from a knee injury that he sustained before the match against Muaither.

Ghassan Waheed continues recuperation

Youngster Ghassan Waheed continued his special recuperation programme under the supervision of physio Joao Marcos in order to reach full fitness after he recently suffered a sprain in the knee.

Club VP shows his support for the team

Al-Sadd Club Vice President Nasser Mubarak Al-Ali was present during Friday’s session to show his support for the team ahead of the game against Al-Wakrah.

Final session and squad list

Al-Sadd will hold the final pre-match training session on Saturday from 5:30 PM at the club’s training pitch, after which the head coach will announce the squad for the match.
