Al-Haydos: Playing Al-Arabi is special; I’m improving gradually

Hassan Al-Haydos has spoken of his side’s readiness ahead of the derby clash against Al-Arabi in Round 21 of the Qatar Stars League.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Al-Sadd star said: “Our matches against Al-Arabi are always special and are not affected by the league positions. The derby is an exciting affair. The Al-Sadd players are fully prepared to go and win the three points. The match will be really tough especially because Al-Arabi are coming on the back of a win over Al-Gharafa and are improving from match to match. We need to be careful and give our best in order to get the win.”

As for his return to action after surgery, Al-Haydos said: “I am satisfied with myself and my performance against Al-Wakrah after playing 90 minutes for the first time in recent weeks. I am improving gradually and I hope I can help my team against Al-Arabi.”

He went on to add: “The atmosphere at Al-Sadd is one of positivity. We deserve to be on top of the league with the excellent performance we have been showing. There are still 6 more matches to go and we have the chance to climb to the top of the table.”

Asked about the level of competition in the QSL this season, Al-Haydos said: “The league has been technically lesser than last season and I hope all the teams raise their performances in order to revive the league, especially as there are only 3-4 teams that are competing. The league is still to be played for with Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan pushing league leader Lekhwiya.”
