AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd hold main training session ahead of R-16 second leg clash
The Al-Sadd first team held their main training session on Sunday, ahead of the upcoming AFC Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash against Al-Duhail. The game will be played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.
The two teams are locked at 1-1 after the end of the first leg, which was played at Al-Duhail’s allocated home venue – Al Janoub Stadium.
Sunday’s main training session saw head coach Xavi Hernandez hold a meeting with the players to share his thoughts on the game and explain the team’s targets from this tough clash, as they look to secure a result that will take Al-Sadd to the quarterfinals.
During the session, the coaching staff focused on the players’ movement and some attacking plays, before moving on to a practice mini-game between the players.
The three goalkeepers – Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham and Jehad Mohammed – trained intensely under the supervision of the goalkeepkng coach, who focused on agility, balance and reactions.
Al-Sadd will now hold their final training session from 8:30 PM onwards at the main pitch, after which the head coach will announce the matchday squad.
Also, the pre-match press conference will be held from 7:30 PM onwards, with Xavi and Hamed Ismail in attendance.
