Xavi: Our focus is on the Al-Rayyan game

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of the importance of his side’s upcoming clash with Al-Rayyan in their QNB Stars League Round 6 game on Saturday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “After our last game in the AFC Champions League, we now need to focus on the clash with Al-Rayyan. Al-Sadd have not dropped any points so far in the league and we want to continue like this. This match will be difficult because Al-Rayyan have an excellent team, with great players. But on paper, we are favourites to win and we want to show our superiority on the pitch too.”

He added: “We have forgotten the last game against Al-Hilal. Our target and all our thoughts are on the Al-Rayyan game, which is very crucial for us. It is really important that we win it.”

“Al-Rayyan are strong opponents and they have a good coach, and capable players who can make the difference. This means we need to perform at our best and impose our personality and playing style on the pitch in order to get the win and retain top spot.”

Xavi also confirmed that Hassan Al-Haydos would be available for the game and that he is in good physical condition, while Abdulaziz Al-Ansari and Pedro Miguel remain injured.
